I wanted to share with you a skincare brand that I have admired for many years.
Aēsop is an Australian skin care brand owned by Brazilian company Natura. Aēsop was created by a hairdresser who wanted to create products that contained more natural elements. Aesop has a range of skincare, hair care, soaps and fragrance - a total of over 80 hair, skin and body care formulations. Each Aesop store has a unique interior design developed in collaboration with various architects, interior designers and artists. The walls of The Downtown LA store are lined with reclaimed cardboard tubing from fabric rolls used by the nearby fashion district. Other elements of the store's interior are made entirely from recycled paper. Shelves and countertops are formed using cross-laminated paper measuring only three-eighths of an inch (0.9 centimetres) thick. The brand can be found in its own 'signature spaces'.
Aesop opened its signature space in Smith & Caughey’s in December 2017 and recently I popped in to check out Aēsop’s new counter and picked up a few items as well as adding their Hwyl Eau de Parfum to my wishlist.
What did I add to my beauty cabinet?
Mandarin Facial Hydrating Cream - A rapidly absorbed, lightly hydrating formulation that cools, tones, and balances the skin. Contains a blend of purifying citrus-derived botanical oils.
How to use - Morning and evening, massage into cleansed and toned skin.
Dosage - Half a teaspoon
Aroma - Citrus, fresh
Suited to - Normal and combination skin, and oily skin through cooler seasons
Skin feel - Cooled and hydrated with a light finish
Key ingredients - Mandarin Rind, Lemon Rind, Tangerine Rind
Primrose Facial Cleansing Masque - A clarifying, clay-based formulation that cleanses skin of residual impurities, decongests and refreshes while delivering replenishing vegetable oils.
How to use - Twice weekly, apply a layer to freshly cleansed and exfoliated skin. Leave for up to fifteen minutes, then rinse off with warm water
Dosage - One to two teaspoons
Aroma - Floral, earthy
Suited to - Normal, oily, combination and blemish-prone skin
Skin feel - Clarified, smooth and deeply cleansed
Key ingredients - Rose Geranium, Primrose Seed, Sage Leaf
B & Tea Balancing Toner - A gentle, alcohol-free blend enhanced with Provitamin B5 and fortifying anti-oxidants. Refines pores, balances and prepares skin for hydration.
How to use - morning and evening, splash onto a cotton pad or directly into hands, and pat onto freshly cleansed face and neck.
Dosage - half a teaspoon
Aroma - floral, herbaceous
Suited to - most skin types, including combination and sensitive.
Skin feel - balanced, fresh and hydrated with light finish
Key ingredients - Sodium Gluconate, Panthenol, Green Tea
Thoughts so far?
The natural ingredients are ideal for my sensitive skin. The toner is the ONLY toner that hasn’t been harsh on my skin. The hydrating cream smells delicious and is perfect for hydrating my skin in winter - it’s currently winter in New Zealand. The face masque removes impurities but rehydrates the skin, so many masks strip natural oils and don't replace moisture to the skin. I will update further in a few months x
